Lochs make their point as Westside’s title hopes fade

Lewis & Harris League

Westside 1 Lochs 2

After the heartache of losing out on the championship last season on the final day in Barvas, Lochs knew that avoiding defeat this time around would put them in a great position to go on and win the title, this season. On the other side of the coin, a defeat for the West would surely all but end their hopes of two in a row on the league front.

Lochs had won the previous battle in Leurbost earlier in the season, when Don Lava netted a late winner - it looked like that game was destined for a draw. The match winner that night was a noticeable absentee from this game, along with Rob Jones and Graham Mackenzie. Westside themselves were without the inspirational Dan Macphail, Donnie Smith and Martainn Shields.
