The last official race of the running year was the Ness 10k, 5k and Fun run held on the 4th December.

This was a very well organised and enjoyable event despite the weather. There was a fantastic turnout from Stornoway Running and Athletics Club (SRAC) runners for all three races even attracting club runners from Harris.

The red and gold vests were prominent throughout the morning and even more prominent when Robert Jones turned the corner into the finishing straight to win the 10k in a time of 37.14, beating his time from last year by 28 seconds.

Robert still running in the Junior age category, as is Duncan Mackellar from Harris who ran his first 10k in a time of 40.18 coming in 7th overall.Super running from two young talented athletes.

Ceit Stewart was first woman home in a time of 48.31 with fellow runner Rebecca Munro running her first 10k coming in second in a time of 49.10 – both girls running in the Junior age categories (U20 and U17 respectively).

There was another SRAC win in the 5k when Connor Maclean crossed the line first in a time of 19.31 and yet another win in the Fun Run when Kyle Munro (under 11) passed the finishing line in first place. A good day “up North” for the SRAC runners.
