This weekend sees the Aries 13 Hebridean Rally returning for its 8th year, again raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Lewis Car Club have organised an even bigger and better event this year, with new stages on the Arnish Road and the Lewis Wind Turbine road, plus a Friday evening stage using the Lews Castle Grounds.
Having raised over £100,000 for the Western Isles Branch of Macmillan Cancer Support over previous years, everyone involved is working hard to boost this figure even further. Headline sponsor Aries 13 is again proud to support the Rally, the cancer charity aiming to advance methods of detecting early stages of cancer.
This year begins on the afternoon of Friday 14th with Scrutineering held in Stornoway Town Centre for the first time, giving the public a great chance to see the 30 visiting rally cars as they undergo essential safety checks. Scrutineering is followed by SS1 & SS2 Lews Castle Grounds stages, with Spectators required to be on-stage by 7:20PM.
Also offered this year, and strongly recommended, is a Park and Ride service which will take Spectators to and from Saturday’s stages. Leaving the LCC Creed Park Track at 7AM, passengers will be dropped off at the designated Spectator areas in each stage, returning to Creed Park for the last stage.
Saturday’s stages are at the following times, with spectators required to be in place a minimum of 30 minutes before the posted start time.
SS3 & SS4 Lewis Wind Turbines – 8:22AM
SS5 & SS6 Arnish Fabrication Yard – 10:56AM
SS7 & SS8 Melbost Farm – 1:17PM
SS9 & SS10 LCC Track Creed Park – 3:25PM
The event will be followed by a Ceilidh and Auction from 9PM upstairs in the Caladh Inn, with a great selection of items donated for auction, again all money raised going to Macmillan.
Tickets for the event are available from the Rally Shop, this year located in the former “Events” shop in the town centre, priced at £15 for access to all stages or alternatively they are available on the gate for £5 per stage. Park and Ride tickets, and a great variety of Rally/LCC clothing are also available in the shop, along with this year’s Rally Programme.
As with all Rallies this year, safety has been further heightened, and spectators are asked to pay attention to the information in the Programme, and on the day to please listen to any Marshall instructions, they are there to keep you safe and ensure everyone enjoys the Hebridean Rally!
