Catch of the season

Having spoken to many anglers, ghillies and Fishery managers throughout Scotland the consensus of opinion is that 2014 was a particularly difficult season for salmon anglers and the Outer Hebrides was no different.

Weather conditions didn’t help, especially in September (normally a reliable fishing month) when three of the four weeks had light or non-existent winds, bright sunshine, high water/air temperatures and low water levels.

However, despite the poor angling returns there seems to have been a reasonable run of salmon/grilse in the majority of rivers in the Hebrides.
