Rangers Euro heroes to visit Stornoway

Two of Rangers’ 1972 Cup Winners Cup legends are heading for Stornoway this weekend as the latest in a long line of magnificent coups for the local supporters clubs.

Goal-den pair Derek Johnstone and Derek Parlane, who each played in the run to the famous Barcelona final win over Dynamo Moscow with a then-18-year-old Johnstone netting a match winning brace in the final itself, will be in Stornoway on Saturday for a talk and question and answer session at the club.

Stornoway’s Lewis and Harris Rangers Supporters Club has been recognised by the Glasgow giants as the world’s biggest Rangers Supporters Club and once more they have acknowledged their island supporters with another two club legends appearing this week.

See next week’s Stornoway Gazette for an exclusive feature interview with both the Gers heroes who each boast treble triumphs on two separate occasions in light blue and each earned full international caps.
