Runners brave monsoon conditions to raise cash for Bermuda Games

THE relentless rain on Saturday failed to put the skids on the WIIGA fundraiser 5k run with a massive number of brave, or foolish, runners taking to the sodden tracks of the Castle Grounds.

The 5k, which snaked around the Lews Castle Grounds from the castle green, up past the college and back around the Creed, was to raise cash for the Western Isles participation in the Bermuda Island Games next year.

Race organisers were thrilled with the turnout on a day where the heaven’s opened in incessant style.
