Fifty runners contesting the Harris 10k run on Saturday were thankful the rain stayed away long enough to enjoy the course – and the scenery.
While a few entrants decided to walk rather than run, there was still plenty of competitive action at the front of the pack that set off from Scalpay, with Stornoway Running and Athletics Club stalwart, Howard Maciver winning in a time of 37 minutes and 33 seconds.
First Harris runner to cross the finish line was Ben Esslemont in a time of 42:52 while the first lady was Maree Mackay on 49:26.
The staff from Harris House Care Home raised £320 as part of their fund raising efforts to raise enough cash to purchase a new flat screen TV in time for their residents to be able to watch the forthcoming Royal Wedding on a new much larger screen. SGD. 22381
