Triple Scottish and British Rally Champion heads for Rally Hebrides 2012

Rally Hebrides 2012 should be the best ever with rally drivers from all over the country coming to Stornoway to take part in this charity event on the 18th August.

All proceeds from the Rally go to Macmillan Cancer Support and this, together the non competitive nature of the event, makes it unique in the Scottish rallying calendar.

This year the Rally is particularly delighted to welcome the current Scottish and British Rally Champion, David Bogie from Dumfries.

David is the only person to hold both of these championship titles at the same time. He has also been the Scottish Champion for three consecutive years.

His first Scottish Rally Championship came at the age of 22, when he became the youngest winner since the late Colin McRae in 1988.

Rally Hebrides 2012 will also see David making his debut in a rallying icon – the Ford Escort Mk2. This car has been specially prepared by Hamish Kinloch Motorsport, and is powered by a high revving Honda S2000 engine.

To further add spice David’s girlfriend has been invited to sit with him in the co-driver’s seat during Rally Hebrides, the first time she has done so during an event!

As the paying co-driver seats for members of the public are unfortunately not available this year due to MSA restrictions she has decided to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support through sponsorship.

The event is organised by Lewis Car Club and details can be found on the dedicated Rally Hebrides Facebook page and on their website at:

These sites will be regularly updated with rally news before and after the event. A dedicated Rally Shop will open soon opposite Stornoway Town Hall entrance, and will be selling all day wristbands and merchandise.
