The club is delighted to have Paul offer his expertise as commentator.

He has a strong history with GASC, having swum with the club as a youngster.

Since those early years, Paul’s personal achievements have been phenomenal, having participated in five Paralympics from 1984-2000, securing a medal in every game and setting a world record in Barcelona in 1992.

This local event is sure to give the novice swimmers a great day of competing, promoting good sportsmanship and cameraderie between the 10 clubs which are attending.

GASC has been established for around 40 years and, like Paul, head coach Barry McMillan learned his skill and developed a love of the sport while training there – in the same lane as Paul.

The club continues to thrive today, boasting around 140 members, and has respected status within the swim community. As the new season opens, and with only two meets attended, the club has secured 37 golds, 31 silvers and 17 bronze medals, with over 150 personal bests. It collected ‘best girl’ at Dunedin Gala, most improved boy and three age group champions at the Geordie Wotherspoon/ Fife Champs gathering.

As a club, Glenrothes provides swim support for all levels, ranging from beginners’ lessons to Scottish level competitors.

The aim of this meet, which has been generously supported by local businesses, is to provide a great gala within a friendly but competitive environment for younger swimmers and those with limited gala experience. There’s sure to be some exciting, inspired action on the day and GASC welcomes all supporters to celebrate the occasion.
