Western Isles residents asked to take on Baxters Loch Ness Marathon

Action for Children Scotland is setting runners from the Western Isles the challenge of completing a marathon in one of Scotland’s most beautiful areas – whilst raising funds to support vulnerable children, families and young people.

Competitors in the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon will follow a route along the loch’s south eastern shore, heading towards Dores and finishing in Inverness. The popular event was voted the fourth best marathon in the UK by Runner’s World, with runners travelling from across the world to take part. Now the leading charity is calling for runners from the Western Isles to raise sponsorship by taking part in the annual event.

Action for Children Scotland fundraiser, Hilary Canto, said: “The Loch Ness Marathon is one of the most popular events in the running calendar, allowing participants to keep active, raise sponsorship and enjoy a truly breathtaking setting.

“We hope that people from the Western Isles will run in aid of Action for Children Scotland. Through our services we support some of the most vulnerable children, young people and families across the country – this is your chance to help us to continue our vital work in the area. Let us know when you have registered and we will provide you with a running vest and a fundraising pack – and our team will be there on the day to provide moral support and cheer you on!”

All money raised will help Action for Children provide a wide range of support to children and families across Scotland. To find out more please contact by telephone on 01463 717227 or email hilary.canto@actionforchildren.org.uk
