Charles Clark has revealed that he and Willie Campbell have already stockpiled almost 20-tracks for the planned new Astrid album.
And he says the sound heralds a return to the traditional sound with which the band made their name.
The news that Astrid are to reform after an 11-year hiatus has been greeted with excitement by music fans who watched the Lewismen storm up the charts in the late 1990s.
Three albums were produced by the boys: Willie Campbell, Charles Clark and Gareth Russell who toured Europe and America, crashed onto the Radio 1 playlist where then-DJ Simon Mayo even named it as his record of the week.
The band went their separate ways in 2004 but have now confirmed plans to reunite their considerable musical forces once more for a brand new record and subequent tour.
“It’s come up a few times over the years but we’ve never really spoken about it seriously or collectively,” said Clark.
