Murdered teenager Liam Aitchison had said Johnathan Mackinnon was ‘like a brother to him’ according to Mr Mackinnon’s statement to police when interviewed as a witness early on in the investigation, the High Court in Glasgow heard today (Tuesday).

Artistic talents of Leverhulme Memorial School pupil

ELEVEN year old Jessica Macleod from Leverhulme Memorial School has been named the Western Isles winner of the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Society Schools Poster Competition supported by Virgin Money.

SISTERS Alayne Barton and Hilary Heggie raised a massive �1,179 for Bethesda Hospice while facing the experience of a lifetime. The girls took part in a 222km dog-sled expedition around the frozen plains of Norway over five days in which the temperature plummeted to -39 one night. Pictured with the super siblings are Carol Somerville, general manager for Bethesda, and DR Macdonald.
