Would you like to earn £3,000 per year to be a voice for Co-op members and champion a better way of doing things at the heart of Co-op businesses?

If you answered yes, then you could become an elected Co-op National Member’s Council representative and get involved in all parts of Co-op life with responsibility to:

Work with our Board and senior leaders to help them represent members’ interests.

Make sure that we’re staying true to our values and principles

Be a strong advocate for Co-op in the outside world – shout loudly and proudly about our achievements, work with your local community and get Co-op Members involved in shaping the Co-op they own.

Right now, the business is looking for new voices to join their National Members’ Council and help Co-op create a fairer world for everyone.

There are also additional opportunities to become a co-opted Council Member in 2021. Co-op have three seats available and are keen to hear from minority ethnic and young members who can help them break down barriers and eliminate inequalities.

If you are interested, you need to have been a Co-op Member for 12 months prior to applying but don’t need to have earned 500 trading points in 2020.

Nominations for election are happening between January 12 to February 12 and there are four seats available in Scotland for Co-op Members.

A spokesman said: “It would be great to have a National Members’ Council local representative for Lochalsh, Skye and the Outer Hebrides area due to the vital services and supplies of the Co-op Food Stores for all of our local communities. Please apply if you believe you can be a voice for Co-op and it’s committed Highland membership.”
