On Friday, May 8, starting at 7.30pm the band will be performing at the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles and at the same time on Saturday, May 9, the band will perform in Biggar’s Municipal Hall. Both events feature well known singers Flora Munro and Anthony Bowers.

To get into the 1940s’ spirit, guests are asked to dress for the period, with a prize for the best dressed couple. There will be a raffle and an auction of two very limited edition prints of VE Day and the Battle of Britain.

In keeping with the commemoration, a specifically written piece recounting the momentous events of 1945 and the sacrifice made by so many will be narrated.

Tickets for the Biggar event cost £20 but include ‘rations’, a little more lavish than in 1945, comprising Allotment Soup, Beef Stew and Spotted Dick. Tickets are available at various outlets in Biggar including The Crown, or Hamiltons’. Proceeds will be shared between the band and the Royal British Legion (Scotland). See www.biggarbigband.com
