A statue of Alan Partridge has appeared in Norwich - here’s why
Anyone who walks by The Forum in Norwich between now and Sunday 27 September might well find themselves saying, “Aha! That’s Alan Partridge” at a new statue of the comedy character which has appeared there.

Hide AdThe golden coloured statue, which stands at more than three metres high, was created by a pair of avid fans of Norwich’s favourite fictional son, who deny it is a publicity stunt linked to the recently launched Alan Partridge podcast.
The statue depicts the fictional radio DJ in what might be described as classic Alan Partridge pose - wearing an argyle sweater, clutching a coffee mug, a hand on his hip and his right leg raised.
How did the statue get there?
Nick Dutton and Gavin Fulcher, who described the statue as a “gift to Norwich”, both work as self-employed sculptors in the film industry. After working on the cold cast brass statue in between jobs for the last three years, it has been put up outside The Forum, in the city centre, until Sunday.

"When you go to uni and meet new people, you say you're from Norwich and people instantly mention Alan Partridge. He is so synonymous with the city, and the people have taken to him too."
The character of Alan Partridge was created by Steve Coogan and Armando Ianucci, and first appeared on television in 1994, on BBC’s Knowing Me Knowing You.
