With almost 5,000 pubs and bars across Scotland, there's plenty to choose from when it comes to enjoying your favourite tipple.

But if you want to know the best places to go in the UK then the National Pub and Bar Awards have just announced the 94 county winning pubs - and 32 of them are north of the border.

The winners are judged on overall retail excellence, best practice and individual entrepreneurship and the overall UK winner will be announced at a glitzy red carpet event in London on 23 May.

Scottish pubs on the shortlist include Dundee's The West House where locals rave about tasty breakfasts and brunches, Pitlochry's family owned Old Mill Inn and the German inspired West on The Green in Glasgow.
