Darts - All Stars maintain lead

Back to league duty after the excitement of the festival and it was business as usual for the teams in the top section of the league.

Even minus Finlay MacIver and Alex Morrison, the All Stars are a force to be reckoned with. They raced into a 4-0 lead against the Sparrows courtesy of wins from Jamie Reid (121, 105, 100 x3), Dave ‘Blondie’ MacLeod (140, 100 x3), Scott MacLeod (140, 100 x3) and Don MacLeod (140, 125, 100 x3).

The game between Dave ‘Blondie’ and Kevin ‘Gazza’ MacKay was closely fought being decided on the final leg with Dave edging it 3-2.

Roddy ‘Boozer’ MacLeod (140, 125, 100) pulled one back for the Sparrows but the All Stars wrapped up the points with Scott hitting double 12 to win the triple. Both doubles also went the same way to give the All Stars a 7-1 win.

In the battle of the Rangers teams, Murdo MacLeod (125, 100 x2) and Murdo Alex MacLeod (100 x3) got the A team off to a good start before howlin’ mad Mark ‘dog’ MacDonald (180, 140, 137, 100 x3) pulled one back with a good 3-2 win over Stephen O’Donnell (120, 100).

Ivor MacLeod (133, 121) looked like he was heading towards the win as he checked out on 87 (17, 20, bull) to move 2-1 ahead of Craig ‘Craigyboy’ Allan (125, 120, 100). However, Craig hit back winning the next two legs for a good 3-2 win.

Kenny ‘Nini’ MacLeod came from 2-0 down to beat Gordon ‘Mopp’ MacDonald (140, 100 x2) 3-2 to give the Rangers A a 3-2 lead after the singles. The B team levelled the match by winning the triple but both doubles went to the A team to give them a 5-3 win.

The force was strong with the Sea Angling A team even though Rory Ferguson (140 x3, 117, 100 x4) on cracking form left after winning his singles match against Ciaran Peck 3-0 to go and see the new Star Wars movie.

The force did not awaken for the Golf Club as Robbie Mowatt (100 x5), Jim O’Donnell (140, 121 x2, 100 x3), Willie Reid (133, 117) and Alex ‘Painter’ Murray (100 and 76 checkout) completed a 5-0 rout in the singles.

The triple was also won by the Sea Angling A before Jim Hood (100) and Sander Peck (100) pulled one back for the Golf Club beating Robbie Mowatt (137) and Willie Reid in the first double. James Macaskill and Phil Frieslick ended the night on a happier note beating Jim O’Donnell and Alex ‘Painter’ in the final double. The final score a 6-2 win for the Sea Angling A.
