Comhairle announce a revised bus timetable as a result of Covid will last a week

NHS Western Isles have seen numbers of people who have tested positive jump by another four to 16 people, along with what they say is a ‘substantial’ number of people who are self-isolating as close contacts of someone who has tested positive.

Due to a shortage of bus drivers, a Comhairle spokesman said on Friday: “A number of positive cases and the resulting Test and Protect self-isolation measures has resulted in a significant reduction in the available bus driver pool in both Bus na Comhairle and the private service providers. In these challenging circumstances, the difficult decision to suspend services was the only appropriate option.”

This new outbreak has had a direct impact on local public transport, and revised timetables are now in force, from March 8-12.
