Jock Mackay Cup - semi final update

The long-awaited Jock Mackay Cup semi-final match between Lewis and Harris FC and either Shetland or Halkirk could be played before the end of the month.

The wintry weather put the scheduled first date for Shetland and Halkirk’s quarter-final on ice. Now a new date of Saturday, February 20, 2016, has been confirmed.

Lewis and Harris will face the winners of the tie in the semi-finals which could take place a week later - on Saturday, February 27, 2016, although this is a pencilled in date and has not yet been confirmed.

In the meantime Lewis and Harris FC boss Kevin Anderson is eager to get a friendly match arranged for his troops who have not kicked a competitive ball since cruising to victory over Invergordon in their own quarter-final in early December. Goals from Innes Iain Morrison, Robert Mackenzie and Stewart Munro earned the travelling islanders a comfortable win. The Gazette will bring you a confirmed date and semi final opponent as soon as we know.
