Here’s how to get a real Christmas tree for just £9 this year

With December now underway, many people will be turning their attention to adding some festive touches to their home - including putting up the Christmas tree.

While many will opt for an artificial tree to spruce up their home, others will want to get a proper fir, but real trees don’t come especially cheap.

If you’re keen to save the pennies this year, it is possible to get your hands on a real Christmas tree at a bargain price - with IKEA offering one of the cheapest on the market.

Trees for £9

The Swedish homeware shop has been closed for the past four weeks in England, in line with the national lockdown, but will reopen again from 2 December.

In Scotland and Wales, stores and click and collect facilities are already open, while the Dublin store reopened on 1 December.

While the retailer is popular for its array of homeware and furniture, shoppers can also pick up a real Christmas tree for less than a tenner, as IKEA brings back its seasonal offer for the ninth year running.

Real fir trees are available to buy, or click and collect, outside stores across the UK for £29. With each purchase, customers will be given a £20 voucher which can be spent across a range of homewares in the new year. This makes the overall cost of the tree just £9.

The retailer will only be stocking Nordmann fir trees grown in Scotland in stores based in England and Scotland, while IKEA Cardiff will be stocking trees grown in Wales.

To receive a voucher, shoppers simply need to buy a real tree from participating stores by 24 December 2020. The vouchers can then be redeemed at IKEA stores between 18 January and 28 February 2021.
